Paying for restaurant and bar bills with PayPal

I recently heard that PayPal can now be used to pay bills in bars and restaurants in some places North America and Australia! With their new Tabbedout app, you can even avoid carrying cash and credit cards altogether!

Re usuable fabric softener idea.

I read this little tip online, and wanted to pass it on I to everyone here, and it seems like a really great idea to me.
You will need 2-3 small sponges from the dollar store, cut them into halves. Find a container with a lid that will seal on tight, and mix one cup liquid fabric softener with 2 cups of water, in the container.

Bill Paying Online... Not Always a Way to Save

I tried to pay another bill online yesterday because I'm getting more used to doing that now... but they charged $2 for paying it online. I thought paperless was supposed to cost LESS? :-(

Anyhow, I paid it since I was already there but when it's the cost of a stamp vs. $2 each month, I'll probably choose to pay by mail.

Saving Money: Bank Fees

I saved some money this morning by finally getting around to doing something I've been wanting to do for a while now. I have two "free checking" accounts with a bank and they've been fine (meaning truly free) for about 10 years now.

Keep Trying Out New Products

I know a lot of us here have probably developed some brand loyalty through the decades of us shopping at stores, but we have to remind ourselves sometimes to try other brands from time to time too. First of all, it really doesn't cost that much, most of the time, to buy one item of a new brand just to try it out, and sometimes we discover something great and hopefully cheaper.

Saving on Meat... Starting Today

I will be heading out for the groceries in about an hour. I have a plan this time and I'll try to remember to update about how it works. The plan is to finally take the time to compare the prices of the over-sized packages of meat with the regular size I usually buy. I'd like to see just how *much* savings is offered.

I don't like buying in bulk. I have to find space for bulk purchases plus sometimes cans and other pantry items expire before we eat them... which makes it wasting instead of saving.

Join As Many Free Raffles As You Can

Often, our supermarkets and other stores put up raffles for their customers, especially the big malls. I always make sure to fill out my information there and join, as I have one a few items, and a few of our family members and family friends have won even more. Granted, it's a little disappointing when you don't win, but if you join many of them, you'll lose track, and eventually just be surprised when you do win something. That's a great feeling, and some raffle items, if not most, are very high quality items with a good brand.

Does Anyone Still Collect Box Tops For Education?

Box tops come on boxes of things like cake mixes and stuff although really I don’t know exactly what they are for except that they count as cash towards something at school.

What I do know though is that my mom used to collect them and make a little money off of them.

Now you might be wondering how she made money from them.

Well she would save them up and then list a bunch of them on eBay and usually people would pay her just a little less than each box top was worth.

Watch Your Water Use. Save more money.

When you get your water bill how much do you usually expect to pay?
Water is one thing that is a necessity for everybody but sometimes we take for granted that it also costs us money. Of course if you have your own well then that might be another story.

Anyways, the point of this post is to remind us to do our best to conserve water as in the end we will end up saving some money.

I am the dishwasher in my family and my Dad is constantly onto me to not turn the water on to high as you end up wasting a lot of it.
