When it comes to accumulating too much stuff, most baby boomers are trained experts. Our Depression era grandparents and parents taught us to save everything in case we could reuse it later. The society that ushered us into adulthood encouraged us to buy bigger and better stuff and to be the first on the block to own the latest electronic gadget on the market. As soon as the Depression Era ‘save everything’ habit collided with the Accumulation Era ‘buy everything’ habit, we were doomed.
